The Habits of Happiness

The Dalai Lama has always been known to have a very peaceful and serene appearance – not only from the outside but also from within. It is said that, after nearly 2000 years of practice, Buddhist monks know that the one secret to happiness is to put your mind to it.

In this short video, Matthieu Ricard talks about the definition of and the search for happiness, as well as about the importance of distinguishing happiness from pleasure and the ways to develop happiness, such as training the mind.

A cellular geneticist from France, Ricard gave up the materialistic world nearly 40 years ago to study Buddhism and is now considered to a close confidant of the Dalai Lama and a spiritual leader in his own right.
